Student Service
In the 2015/2016 school year I served as a 'student volunteer' to the special education teacher at Holdingford Elementary. During my time I experienced first hand what it is like to be a special education teacher in a real school setting. I was also able to build skills working with children who have learning disabilities and behavioral disorders. I also acquired skills in building meaningful relationships with the children, paraprofessionals, and other teachers.
Inclusion Specialist
Beginning in May of 2016, I began working at Kidstop in St. Joseph, MN, serving as an inclusion specialist. My role in the after school program is to help students who have learning disabilities and behavioral disorders participate in all of the activities successfully. This includes keeping them on task during large and small group instruction, helping them to interact appropriately during outside time and free time, as well as ensuring that they are being included in all activities.
